Magical Girls and Boba Tea

One of the best things about being a nerd and living in San Antonio is that if you know where to look you can find plenty of little micro events scattered around town. Some social, some hyper specific or others just vender shows where local artists can show of their stock. But that's something I'll touch upon some other time.

This weekend we found out that a Boba tea place was going to hold a Magical Girl themed event at a place that I pass by all the time but would never have thought to stop by, simply due to how busy the roads in San Antonio can be, a place called Hella Bubble located off of De Zavala and the I-10.

Hoping to find a few cosplayers and some cool art f I grabbed my camera and the girlfriend and I headed off bracing the cold Texas winter (35°F). When we got there it was standing room only. A testament to the local anime nerds supporting local businesses. Even with a line out the door everyone was polite and casual to have a line to order with enough space for those who where looking through the artist table. It could of easily have been to stuffy or crowded but the stereotype of anime fans being far to young and rowdy to survive in the world is a thing of the past.

So I snapped a few photos while I waited in line, hoping that the drinks were going to be of the same quality as the rest of the area. And I wasn't disappointed in the least. My berry mix with sea salt milk foam, lovingly called the Sailor Mercury, could of had more salt to last the entire drink I just don't think that would be possible by the laws of tea. It was great through and through even if the salt bits became overtaken by the rest of the sweetness after like 10 minutes. Still 10/10 would order again.

~ The place was small but well put together for not only the crowd but also the 6 extra tables along the wall for the artist venders.
~ It was sleek without being to sterile or "busy"
~ And the service was quick enough to not make the wait unbearable.

I look forward to going to visit this little shop the next time I'm in the area both for future events and just because.
